Machine Operator

Key Objectives
The role supports operations across 14 packaging lines, managing a high-volume, complex operational environment with the following critical KPIs:
- Annual throughput: ~24,000 tonnes of sugar base products (global distribution)
- Syrup products: ~30 million units annually
- Dry products (packets): ~4,000 tonnes of small-pack sugar and sweetener products/year
Detailed Responsibilities
- Operate plant equipment in compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards
- Meet production & OEE targets while minimising redundant waste via strict specifications
- Ensure adherence to BRC and customer standards with accurate tracking of operational data
- Maintain an in-depth operational understanding of Plaistow plant processes
- Manage concessions and traceability data for quality assurance
Essential Capabilities
- Teamwork & autonomy: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively when necessary
- Forklift experience (FLT) preferred
- Self-motivated with a desire for professional and process development
- Strong computer proficiencies: Familiarity with Microsoft Word & Excel
- Competent literacy and numeracy levels
- Able to provide basic cover for Team Leaders/Supervisors during holidays/shift emergencies

- Detailed knowledge of complex packing and process automation systems
Educational Requirements
- Equivalent to GCSEs in English, Mathematics, and Science
