Machine Operator - Packing

Thirsk | Permanent | Site-based

We’re excited to be recruiting for a Machine Operator to join our Packing department in our Manufacturing site based near Thirsk.

The Role:

In the packing department, your role involves packaging the extruded kibble produced by the on-site extruder department into specific bags for customers. You'll work as part of a shift rotation within one of four cells, each equipped with automated machines and robots that assist in the bagging, sealing, wrapping, and stacking processes. Once completed, the packaged bags are sent to the warehouse department.

On Offer:

  • £15.07 per hour (including shift allowance) - £32,913 annual salary
  • 42 hours per week (24/7 days and nights)
  • Hourly pay, paid monthly last Friday of every month.

Our shift model explained:

The Dupont schedule follows a four-week cycle. Colleagues switch between day and night shifts, often within the same week, (05:30 to 17:30 / 17:30 to 05:30) and will work for three or four consecutive days at a time. Colleague workdays are interspersed with one to three consecutive days off. Additionally, colleagues receive one block of seven days off during the four-week period.

The role will involve:

  • Ensuring that the highest level of quality is maintained by carrying out quality checks at hourly intervals throughout your shift and recording the information on our paper-based documents.
  • Setting up and operating machines throughout your shift.
  • Following production guidelines and ensuring our products are packed correctly.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the machinery and equipment.
  • Following the IPN ‘Clean As You Go’ policy at all times to ensure that the machine is operating to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Promoting a people safe culture, complying with policies and procedures, reporting any safety observations and plant damage through the appropriate channels.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
