Machine Shop Manager, SailGP Technologies

SailGP Technologies is the high-performance design, engineering, and manufacturing arm of SailGP, the global, purpose-led SailGP Championship—the most electrifying racing on water. This high-stakes sport combines national teams, cutting-edge F50 catamarans (capable of exceeding 100km/h), and iconic stadium venues worldwide.

Since its founding in 2018, SailGP has grown as one of the world’s fastest-expanding sports and entertainment platforms. Building on decades of pioneering sailboat engineering, SailGP Technologies has relocated its new state-of-the-art facility to Southampton, UK, in Spring 2024.

About the Role

This strategic leadership position oversees an integrated engineering and manufacturing function, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, high-quality components through both metallic and composite processes.

The ideal candidate will combine:

  • Proven experience in production and advanced manufacturing (preferably in high-tech, precision-driven sectors like motorsport, aerospace, or marine innovation).
  • Strong technical leadership and hands-on expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams and scaling production systems.
  • A track record of shaping manufacturing strategy within a dynamic organisational context.

This role reports to the Director of SailGP Technologies. Duties encompass every phase of machining—from procurement to quality inspection to stock control—ensuring seamless end-to-end delivery.

Strategic Leadership & Manufacturing Strategy

  • Provide strategic direction for all machining functions, including manufacturing, testing, and product development, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Define and execute a forward-looking manufacturing strategy supporting growth, innovation, and scalability by optimising between in-house capabilities and outsourced supply chains.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
