Machine Shop Tool Stores Controller

Description

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised Metallic Tool Stores Controller to support our high-performance Metallic Machining Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring our machining operations run efficiently by delivering exceptional tooling management, inventory control, and technical support.

Working in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for maintaining the availability and performance of tooling and consumables while driving continuous improvement and cost-effective solutions. Your contribution will directly support our ambition of consistently competing at the very highest level of motorsport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the machine shop tool stores, ensuring all tooling, consumables, and assemblies are organised, controlled, and readily accessible.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels of new, used, and regrind tooling to prevent production shortages.
  • Source alternative tooling solutions and work with suppliers to achieve the best value and performance.
  • Coordinate tooling regrinds and replacements while monitoring cost savings.
  • Support machinists with tooling requirements and technical problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering and CAM Programming to improve tool life and machining performance.
  • Raise purchase requisitions and maintain accurate tooling expenditure records.
  • Assemble and disassemble tooling in line with setup documentation.
  • Ensure tooling is production-ready, organised, and compliant with quality and health & safety standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support departmental objectives.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience within Formula One, motorsport, aerospace, or other high-precision manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, machining technologies, tool wear, and tooling optimisation.
  • Experience assessing and managing tooling regrinds.
  • Competence in tooling assembly and the use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good IT, numerical, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to changing production priorities.
  • Strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and Health & Safety.
