The Role

As a Machine Operator, you will take ownership of the production line, leading a small team of Production Technicians while ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of mixing and bottling equipment.

The role is responsible for managing machinery, materials, and people to deliver production plans safely and on time. You will plan, coordinate, and control daily production activities, ensuring products are manufactured to the required quality standards while consistently achieving or exceeding hourly production targets.

Working closely with Shift Supervisors, Line Pickers, and Engineering teams, you will ensure the timely production of finished goods, effective line performance, and continuous operational improvement.

Responsibilities:

Production & Operational Management

  • Safely operate, monitor, and optimise production machinery and equipment, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all line equipment and production systems, promptly reporting defects or performance issues to minimise downtime.
  • Manage production activities in line with the production schedule, prioritising work to maximise output and achieve delivery targets.
  • Proactively prevent line stoppages and minimise downtime through effective planning, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate material flow and direct Line Pickers to ensure raw materials and packaging components are delivered to the line in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, Shift Supervisors, and Engineering to maximise throughput and resolve operational issues quickly.
  • Ensure prompt shift start-up and efficient shift handover/end-of-shift procedures.
  • Manage break schedules to ensure adequate line coverage and continuous production.
  • Record and report hourly production performance and line efficiency data accurately.
  • Conduct routine machine care activities, including cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and basic fault-finding.
  • Ensure production lines are thoroughly cleaned at the end of each shift and complete weekly deep-cleaning and minor maintenance activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
