Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am–3:45pm
We are currently recruiting for a Machinist to join an established engineering and manufacturing company based in West Sussex.
You will work as part of a 10-person production team, machining a range of metal and plastic components to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in precision machining, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret 2D technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and NC saws.
- Machine high- and low-value metal and plastic components.
- Work accurately to tight tolerances of up to ±0.005mm.
- Interpret 2D CAD and technical engineering drawings.
- Inspect completed components to ensure they meet the required specifications.
- Work independently while contributing effectively as part of the wider production team.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping.

Skills and Experience
- Competent in operating Colchester 600 manual lathes.
- Experience using 5000VS manual milling machines.
- Confident using manual lathes, manual mills, and NC saws.
- Able to interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Previous experience machining components to tight tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and able to work under your own initiative.
- Flexible and willing to support other members of the production team.
- A genuine passion for practical engineering, demonstrated through professional experience, qualifications, or personal hobbies.
- Welding experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am–4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am–3:45pm
- One-hour lunch break
- 10-minute morning and afternoon breaks
