Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Job Vacancy
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. You will support patients diagnosed or treated with lung cancer, working alongside a team of seven specialist nurses, one cancer support worker, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, personalised care for individuals living with and beyond cancer.
About the Role
A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education, operating at an enhanced practice level within a specialised area. Duties include:
- Assessing and managing patient needs
- Delivering care, dispensing advice, and supporting patients
- Acting with autonomy, accountability, and responsibility
- Serving as a skilled advisor to patients and a resource for the wider team
- Working across various settings—both in-person and remotely—based on expertise and scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
Within the cancer CNS role, your duties will encompass:
- Developing and delivering personalised care aligned with the NHS Cancer Plan, using holistic needs assessments (HNA).
- Ensuring patients access all available resources and services, with timely and accurate information at every stage of their cancer journey—from diagnosis, through treatment, to living with and beyond cancer, or end-of-life care.
- Actively collaborating with the cancer management team, Imperial College Healthcare, RM Partners Cancer Alliance, and other stakeholders to:
- Improve the profile of cancer nursing
- Promote patient-centred services
- Contribute to excellent cancer care in your speciality.
- Upholding the highest standards of quality cancer care.
