Exciting Opportunity for a Macmillan Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join the Dermatology and Cancer Services team as a Macmillan Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). This is a rewarding and autonomous role supporting patients from the point of suspicion of cancer throughout their pathway. You will act as a key worker, ensuring patients receive personalised, high-quality care, expert advice, and emotional support while contributing to service improvement.
Role Overview
The post holder will be a core member of the cancer multidisciplinary team where patients with skin cancer are discussed. Be responsible for the provision of high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring those living with a skin cancer have access to expert information, advice, and support from the point of suspicion of cancer.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Key Worker, coordinating the patients’ pathway from the point of suspicion of cancer.
- Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team, other healthcare professionals across primary and secondary care, and the voluntary sector to ensure a seamless service for patients and their families.
- Responsible for the implementation of personalised care and support for those living with skin cancer in line with National directives, including the implementation of remote monitoring.
- Lead and participate in health promotion initiatives related to the prevention of skin cancer.
