Maconomy ERP Testing Manager – VCCP

THE ROLE: Maconomy ERP Testing Manager
We are seeking an experienced Maconomy ERP Testing Manager to lead the testing workstream for a Deltek Maconomy ERP consolidation. This role will be responsible for:
- Defining the test strategy
- Managing system, integration and data migration testing, plus user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Ensuring the solution is go-live ready
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with finance, operations, IT, business process owners and implementation partners to:
- Create realistic test scenarios
- Manage defect resolution
- Coordinate UAT
- Report progress
- Secure business sign-off
This role is suited to candidates with:
- Strong ERP testing experience
- A good understanding of finance and project accounting processes
- Ideally, previous experience with Deltek Maconomy in a project-based or professional services environment
Purpose of the Role
The Maconomy ERP Testing Manager ensures the successful testing of a Deltek Maconomy ERP consolidation (including Workbook functionality migration), upgrade or enhancement programme. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating all testing activities across:
- Business processes
- Integrations
- Data migration
- Reporting
- Security roles
- Finance/project accounting workflows
- Working with the ERP programme team, finance, project management, IT, integrators, and stakeholders to guarantee system readiness for go-live.

Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning
- Develop and maintain ERP test strategy, covering:
- System testing
- Integration testing
- Data migration testing
- UAT
- Regression testing
- Security and access testing
- Reporting and dashboard testing
- Cutover/go-live readiness testing
- Create detailed test plans, schedules, entry/exit criteria, governance and reporting standards.
Maconomy Process Testing
Ensure full test coverage across:
- Project lifecycle management
- Client/job/project set-up and management
- Time and expense entry/approval
- Purchasing and supplier invoicing
- Client billing and invoicing
- Revenue recognition
- Project accounting
- General ledger postings
- Month-end and period close
- Intercompany processes
- Workflow approvals
- Resource planning (if in scope)
- Management and financial reporting
UAT Management
- Plan and deliver User Acceptance Testing, including:
- Identifying UAT testers across finance, operations and business teams -Designing real-world business scenarios
- Coordinating test execution, defect tracking, and user support
- Ensuring proper business sign-off
Test Script & Scenario Management
Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants and process owners to create test scripts that capture:
- Business scenario
- Preconditions, step-by-step actions, expected vs. actual results
- Evidence capture
- Defect reference
- Pass/fail status
- Business owner sign-off
Defect Management
Own the defect management process, including:
- Logging, triaging and categorising defects by severity/priority
- Assigning owners or escalating blockers
- Tracking fixes, retesting and aged issues
- Providing go-live readiness assurance
Integration & Data Testing
Coordinate testing of Maconomy integrations with:
- Sage HR systems
- Active Directory/Entra ID/SSO
- Bank reporting platforms
- Data warehouse/Power BI
Ensure accurate data migration for completeness, accuracy and business usability.
Reporting & Governance
Provide regular updates to ERP Programme Manager, sponsors and steering committee, including:
- Test progress
- Pass/fail rates
- Defect status
- Critical risks and blockers
- UAT sign-off and go-live readiness

Required Experience
Must-have:
- ERP testing experience (especially finance or professional services)
- Deltek Maconomy experience (preferably in advertising, consultancy or project-based roles)
- UAT coordination across multiple business units/counties
- Finance process testing (billing, revenue, GL, AP, AR, month-end)
- Defect management & test governance
- Stakeholder collaboration (system integrators, business teams)
- Familiarity with testing tools: Excel, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet
Highly desirable:
- Deltek Maconomy implementation/upgrade experience
- Workbook migration experience
- Data migration testing
- Power BI/reporting validation expertise
- Multi-entity/currency/country exposure
