Location & Work Mode

  • Work Mode: Onsite
  • Location: Basildon
  • Experience Required: 6+ years

Key Responsibilities

Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain tools and utilities for IBM Parallel Sysplex environments
  • Develop automation scripts and system utilities using:
    • REXX
    • JCL
    • LCOBOL
    • LPL/ (they preferred)
    • Assembler (preferred)
  • Build and support utilities for:
    • System monitoring
    • Workload balancing
    • Batch automation
    • Resource sharing
    • Operational support
  • Work with Sysplex technologies including:
    • XC Coupling Facility
    • JES2/JES3
    • RACF
    • FSDS
    • FMR/SM
  • Support integrations with DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and related mainframe subsystems

Testing

  • Design and execute:
    • Functional testing
    • Integration testing
    • Regression testing
    • Failover testing
    • Performance testing
  • Validate Sysplex high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Perform testing for cross-system communication and workload distribution
  • Analyze system logs, dumps, traces, and RMF/SMF reports
  • Support automated testing and validation of Sysplex utilities and operational tools
  • Identify defects, conduct root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation activities

Production Support & Operations

  • Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support for Sysplex tools and applications
  • Troubleshoot:
    • Sysplex communication failures
    • Coupling Facility issues
    • JES failures
    • Performance bottlenecks
    • Batch processing failures
  • Support production deployments, release management, and maintenance activities
  • Participate in DR drills, business continuity testing, and system upgrades
