Role Title: Mainframe IBM Z Technical Specialist – Db2
Location: Sheffield – Hybrid (60% office, 40% remote)
Duration: 30/11/2026
Rate: £514 GBP/Day (Inside IR35)
Role Description:
The IBM Z Technical Specialist – Db2 will:

Design and provide support for database technology, ensuring customer delight as per defined size, effort, schedule, quality standards, and best practices.
- Maintain and improve Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) while ensuring compliance with client policies.
- Actively identify automation opportunities, strategize, and implement repeat-process automation to align with organizational efficiency goals.

Conduct proactive analysis of daily tasks to streamline deliveries by reducing repetitive and standardized processes.

Ensure adherence to global best practices for supporting diverse customer needs.

Provide high-quality service with a deep understanding of underlying environments.

- Possess extensive hands-on expertise in technology and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to provide/implement necessary training for enhanced service delivery.
General Skills
- Experience working on multiple large, complex projects in an architectural role, designing and implementing technical solutions to address commercial needs.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills to detect, diagnose, and resolve processing anomalies or system errors.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, especially when explaining complex technical details.
- Ability to build trust-based relationships and foster cross-functional collaboration.

Technical Requirements

Understand functional requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.

Manage production support & release automation in database environments.

Define physical database design.
-
Build, review, QA-test, implement, and support application database releases.
-
Apply RACF/ACF2 security rules (including database access controls).

Configure and maintain high-availability solutions, replication setups, and liaise with application/infrastructure teams.

Assist with data conversion/migration.
