Maintainer Operator – Permanent Position at Drax Power Station

Contract Details

  • Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £21.16 per hour + £2,500 per annum shift allowance
  • Closing Date: 10th July 2026

About the Role

A vacancy has arisen for a Maintainer Operator to join Hargreaves Industrial Services (HIS) at Drax Power Station.

The Maintainer Operator will focus on the efficient examination, testing, installation, and maintenance of mechanical plants and equipment.

HIS provides diverse operations and maintenance services, including:

  • Handling, maintaining, and reclaiming materials (FBA, Coal, Mitigant Slurry).
  • Managing material stocks and logistics using a range of Mobile Plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and RCM (Reliability-Centred Maintenance) per site schedules.
  • Address planned repair deficiencies across all mechanical equipment.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns—diagnostic, repair coordination, and execution.
  • Comply with all site operational tasks, adhering to training, procedures, and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for all maintenance activity.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure high standard maintenance support.
  • Provide efficient, professional maintenance to meet plant operational needs.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements/innovations within scope.
  • Ensure harmonisation and flexibility to support operational objectives.
  • Develop, collaborate, and communicate the annual maintenance plan for all stakeholders (HIS + client).
  • Understand PLC control systems, inputs/outputs, and field-based transducers.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Requirements

  • Mechanical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds Part 3 / NVQ Level 3).
  • CPCS Safety Passport (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of HSE/SHEQ standards.
