Position Details
- Role: Full-time Maintenance Operative
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Salary: £27,500 to £33,500 (dependent on experience and skills), including Serco benefits
- Location: Wigan
- Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Vehicle and tools provided
About the Role
At Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services (AASC) to support individuals navigating the asylum system, including providing temporary accommodation.
As a Maintenance Operative, you’re integral to ensuring all reparative and preventative works—both reactive and preplanned via your manager—are executed to a high standard and within Service Level Agreement (SLA) deadlines.
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual with relevant experience in joinery, plumbing, painting, or decorating who can manage their workflow effectively and collaborate as part of a team.

Core Responsibilities
- Prioritise and execute maintenance tasks (reactive and proactive) to industry standards.
- Ensure health and safety compliance for yourself and property users before, during, and after all works.
- Purchase and manage materials using a Serco-approved company account from permitted suppliers.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections to maintain professional and clean conditions for company vehicles.
- Contribute to 24/7 operational coverage via an on-call rota (once every 8–10 weeks) for urgent tasks.
Flexible Working Framework
- Typical schedule: Mon–Fri, 7.5 hours/day between 08:00–18:00 (adjustments may be necessary based on operational needs).

Requirements
- Valid UK driving licence (essential).
