About the Role
We’re seeking a Maintenance Assistant who loves making a real difference to people’s lives. You’ll work Monday–Friday (9:00am–5:00pm, 38.5 hours per week) in a mental health hospital providing emergency admissions across two acute wards.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Facilities & Contractor Management
- Collaboratively manage external contractors delivering:
- Hard & soft facilities management (planned preventative maintenance, small works, capital projects)
- Security, pest control, grounds/garden maintenance, window cleaning, waste management
- Oversee performance of these services to ensure accredited service standards at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate.

Compliance, Reporting & Documentation
- Assist the Hospital Manager with statutory returns, including:
- Legal compliance audits (e.g., Building & Construction Act 1994 standards)
- Health & Safety audits (RIDDOR, COSHH, asbestos control, lift maintenance)
- Prepare compendiums for:
- Environmental reports
- Safety risk assessments
- Technical procedural manuals for adequacy and training purposes
Emergency & Crisis Response
- Cloud collaboration with the Hospital Manager in roles of seniority related to:
- Major incident planning, coordination, and response
- Emergency preparedness protocols under fire legislation.
Budget & Process Governance
- Monitor facilities operations to stay within approved budgets
- Expand/review systems and procedures for finally sustaining resources.
Requirements & How You’ll Fit
Your Experience & Skills
✔ Strong background in facilities management with professional expertise, or proven reliability in ensuring sites and infrastructure stand up to behavioural, territory and financial scrutiny.

✔ Licensing – Must hold a full, valid driving licence (attention to travel requirements also applied).
✔ Communication Leadership – Proficient at:
- Collaborating across all staff levels
- Accurately logging systems, risks, or issue records
✔ Team Management – Proven ability to manage and lead (or an eye for those aspects in the near future).
