Location: Dunboyne Court, 170 St Marychurch Road, Torquay, TQ1 3AB Salary: £13.41 per hour Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our senior living community through:

  • Carrying out site repairs and maintenance efficiently and effectively
  • Identifying maintenance issues and coordinating specialist support when required
  • Completing planned tasks, such as decorating, routine building checks, and periodic inspections
  • Maintaining safe and secure environments, including occasional gardening duties
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for contractors on site

Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Execute tasks such as plumbing, electrical (basic), and general hands-on repairs
  • Perform decorating, routine building maintenance, and minor landscaping
  • Ensure safety compliance within our residence, reporting hazards promptly
  • Work collaboratively with the team to uphold exceptional standards of care
  • Lead by examples—our residents deserve safety and comfort.

Support Role

  • Liaise with contractors and tradespeople to streamline site operations
  • Assist in minor facility improvements to enhance the living experience

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in maintenance or caretaker roles (prior formal qualifications preferred but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in identifying and completing repairs safely (e.g., using tools, basic machinery)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to liaise with residents and staff
  • Dependable team player, with the ability to work independently as needed
  • Basic computer literacy and prefera a full UK driving licence (ideal, not mandatory)

Desirable

  • Familiarity withбол indigenous retirement/disability care environments
  • Experience with elderly or vulnerable individuals (if applicable)
