Job Role

This post is to join part of the Maintenance Team of North West Anglia Foundation Trust who provides maintenance services, both planned and reactive, for the properties belonging to the Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • The post holder is expected to provide basic repair and maintenance services for Mechanical, Electrical and Building maintenance systems and installations in all buildings occupied and operated by the Hospital.
  • The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust.
  • The post holder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repairs across a wide range of interconnected highly complex plant and equipment, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Estates Manager.
  • The post holder will be working to established engineering procedures, good practice, organisational and broad occupation policies. Often working to measured standards and procedures which require specific training; in first line response situations the post holder will need to establish how such policies can be implemented.

Key Tasks

  • To undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and minor installation works within a safe environment and to a high quality across a range of mechanical and electrical engineering plant, equipment and building fabric systems.
  • To provide a multi-trade maintenance service supporting electrical, mechanical and fabric disciplines across the Trust estate.
  • To carry out routine inspections, fault finding, basic testing, repairs and maintenance activities in accordance with departmental procedures, safe systems of work and relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs).
  • To assist skilled craftsperson's, supervisors and specialist contractors with maintenance, repair and improvement works.
  • To support Water Safety compliance activities including outlet flushing, temperature monitoring, TMV maintenance, shower maintenance and associated record keeping.
  • To maintain plant rooms, workshops, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

Working Hours

  • To be expected to work within the trusts agenda for change core hours of 06:00 to 20:00 to assist in completing tasks outside of the traditional 08:00 to 16:30 working pattern. This will include participating in the monthly generator tests, quarterly critical AHU cleans and other critical tests that predominantly are carried out from 06:00 hours.
  • To work flexibly across Trust sites and participate in altered working patterns where service needs require.

Priority

  • Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
