We are currently recruiting a Maintenance Assistant to join our maintenance team based on site in Burton Latimer.

This is a hands-on role supporting the safe, efficient day-to-day operation of the facility. You’ll carry out general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and site upkeep while ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, hygiene, and food safety are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general building and site maintenance, including minor repairs to doors, floors, walls, fixtures, and fittings
  • Complete basic plumbing, joinery, painting, and mechanical repair work
  • Maintain non-production equipment and site services such as lighting, drainage, shelving, locks, and small tools
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues affecting safety, hygiene, or operations
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine inspections
  • Report defects, repeat faults, and larger repair requirements to the maintenance supervisor
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard
  • Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times
  • Follow strict food hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, and health & safety procedures
  • Use tools and materials safely, including correct storage and disposal
  • Assist with contractor supervision, equipment moves, installations, and site improvement projects
  • Complete maintenance logs, checklists, and job records
  • Actively promote and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture on site

Skills And Experience

  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or site services
  • Basic skills in plumbing, joinery, mechanical repairs, or general maintenance
  • Practical maintenance experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • A proactive, reliable, and safety-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a wider maintenance team
