Maintenance Engineer (Days)
Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7
Salary: A GBP 40,000 - A GBP 45,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working pattern of either:
- 4 x 10-hour days
- 5 x 8-hour days
Where the 4-day week is selected, the engineering team will coordinate and agree individual days off.
Commutable from: York, Thirsk, Ripon, Middlesborough, Boroughbridge, Harrogate, Knaresborough
The Role
Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide engineering support to a busy production team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment reliability through planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities. The successful candidate will be proactive, safety-focused, and capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities in line with maintenance schedules and systems.
- Investigate equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Support production and quality teams with technical and process-related issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
- Provide detailed breakdown reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements
- Time-served engineering qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a maintenance engineering role.
- Good working knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems.
- Experience with product transfer systems, including elevators, drag-chain, and auger feed systems.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
- Good organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced production environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and highly motivated approach.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Mechanical bias.
