About the Role
My client is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team at their Scunthorpe waste and recycling facility on a 6 & 14 rotating shift pattern to include alternate Saturday Mornings.
This is a hands-on role supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of both fixed and mobile plant within a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fixed and mobile plant.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently.
- Undertake welding and fabrication work (MIG / ARC or equivalent) to support repairs and plant integrity.
- Ensure plant and machinery are available and fully operational during production hours.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including job cards, photographs, and defect reports.
- Record parts usage and support control of critical spares.
- Work closely with operational teams to align maintenance activities with production requirements.
- Communicate outstanding defects and repairs clearly at shift handover.
- Carry out risk assessments prior to commencing maintenance tasks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety at all times.

- Time-served Maintenance Engineer / Plant Fitter – essential.
- Proven welding experience (MIG / ARC or equivalent) – essential.
- Experience working on heavy processing plant, both static and mobile.
- Knowledge of shredders, trommels, conveyors or similar plant equipment – an advantage.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair capability.
- Physically capable of working in an industrial environment, including manual handling.
