Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance Engineer

Term: Full time, Permanent

Location: On site

Hours: 08:30 – 16:50, Monday to Friday

A fantastic opportunity has emerged for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join ReAgent Chemical Services Limited.


About the Role

As our Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing critical equipment and systems. This hands-on role covers mechanical, electrical, and pipefitting tasks across chemical/pharmaceutical/high-purity environments, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key functions include:

  • Mechanical & electrical maintenance of tanks, agitators, pumps, gearboxes, GEMÜ valves, and automated control systems.
  • Pipefitting for stainless steel, plastic, and air piping (welded, glued, or threaded).
  • Troubleshooting & diagnostics of faults in 3-phase and single-phase systems.
  • Supporting process upgrades, modifications, and installations.
  • Upholding rigorous housekeeping standards in a cleanroom/sensitive environment.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in industrial, water treatment, or chemical process landscaping, with strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety.


Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Installation

    • Overhaul and repair tanks, agitators, pumps, and gearboxes.
    • Service and install GEMÜ valves, actuators (electric/pneumatic), and hydraulic systems.
    • Manage reverse osmosis (RO), distilled, ozonated, and deionised water systems.
  • Pipefitting & Fabrication

    • Construct/repair pipelines (stainless steel, plastic, or air) using welding, gluing, or threading techniques.

  • Fault Diagnosis & Repair

    • Identify mechanical (including bearing/packing failures) and electrical 3-phase/single-phase faults.
    • Read and interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics to troubleshoot issues.
  • Plant Enhancements

    • Assist in modifications, installations, and upgrades to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance

    • Maintain high housekeeping standards in engineering facilities.
    • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental HSE protocols.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferred: 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification for electrical responsibilities.
  • Advantageous: ComPEX/ATEX training or pipefitting/welding certifications.

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • GEMÜ valves and pneumatic/electric actuators.
    • Water purification systems (including RO/distilled/ozonated/deionised water).
    • Pipefitting for pharmaceutical-grade or high-purity environments (MOC: stainless steel, plastic, air).
    • 3-phase single-phase motors,変频器PVRs, actuators.
  • Fault-finding skills for mechanical (e.g., seals, bearings) and electrical malfunctions.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in safety-critical teams.

Work Environment

  • Preference for experience in chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical processing, or water treatment plants.
  • Familiarity with hygienic engineering (e.g., EHEDG standards) a plus.
  • Vigilance for cross-contamination control essential.
