Maintenance Engineer (Shift Cover) – Bristol Area
Rate: £29.00 – £44.00 per hour
About the Role

Gap Technical is recruiting skilled Maintenance Engineers to provide ad-hoc shift cover across multiple manufacturing sites in the Bristol area. Ideal for those seeking extra income, flexible hours, or exposure to diverse industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair electrical & mechanical faults using technical documentation.
- Fault-finding on:
- 3-phase electrical systems
- Drives & inverters
- PLC I/O
- Pneumatic & hydraulic systems
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to resolve recurring issues.
- Work with production & operations teams to optimise equipment reliability.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-standard maintenance work.

Requirements
Successful candidates will have:
- A completed time-served engineering apprenticeship (preferred).
- Manufacturing/production experience in related roles.
- Technical expertise in:
- 3-phase electrical systems
- Drive and inverter systems
- PLC/I-O interfaces
- Pneumatic & hydraulic systems
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly at different sites.
- Preference (but not essential) for experience in:
- FMCG
- Packaging
- Food & Beverage
- Chemical manufacturing
