Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Location: Walthamstow, Greater London
Salary: £62,401 per annum
Hours: 42 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off rotating days and nights (days one week, nights the following week)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. This hands-on role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on fault finding, preventative maintenance, and driving continuous improvement.

Working across both day and night shifts, you will play a key role in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting ongoing engineering improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and automation faults.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Support the delivery of the site engineering strategy.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability and performance.
  • Monitor and improve key manufacturing performance indicators, including OEE.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and food manufacturing compliance.
  • Provide technical support, coaching and guidance to production teams and fellow engineers.
  • Assist with engineering projects and other duties as required.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Knowledge of automation systems and production equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.

Qualifications

  • Time-served Multi-Skilled Engineer or completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship, or
  • City & Guilds 2346-03 Electro-Technical Experienced Worker qualification.
