Maintenance Engineer – Production Catering Facility

Job Description

We are recruiting a fully skilled maintenance engineer to join our high-performance engineering team in a fast-paced food production facility. You will provide technical support across all manufacturing and packaging lines to:

  • Drive optimum equipment reliability and minimal downtime through:
    • Effective maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement activities
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance (including PPM) on:
    • Production and packaging equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve:
    • Mechanical faults
    • Electrical faults
    • Plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues
    • Safety-critical failures (timely and securely)
  • Support line optimisation and process improvement initiatives to enhance OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure operational targets are achieved
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records via the CMMS system
  • Adhere to strict food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Time-served Engineer (or equivalent) – qualifications verified by an:
    • HNC/HND
    • Level 3 NVQ in a pertinent engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled)
  • Commercial or practical manufacturing experience in a fast-moving, semi-automated environment
    • Preferred experiences: food, beverage, or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical fault-finding
    • PLC-controlled equipment
  • Shiftworking ability – willing to operate within a continental shift pattern (days/evenings/weekends)
  • Exceptional diagnostic, fault-finding, and communication skills
  • Committed to safety: Certified in Gas Safety, Gas Safe Register competence where applicable
  • Ideally holds a 17th/18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations qualification (if electromechanical focus applies)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement methodologies
