Maintenance Engineer
Hands-on, Mechanically Minded Maintenance Engineer – Yeovil Aerospace Site

Our client—a global leader in industrial maintenance—is seeking a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to support their operations at the Yeovil-based aerospace manufacturing site.
This role is ideal for someone who loves variety: fault-finding, repairs, fabrication, and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic production setting.

Yeovil
Salary
£38,500 per annum + Bonus (Rate may adjust to £40K + Bonus post-review)
Shift Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00–15:30
- Friday: 07:00–12:00
The Role
- Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
- Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with involvement in electrical and control systems
- Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
- Perform fabrication and machining tasks, including:
- Welding, sheet metal work, and manual machining (mills, lathes, pillar drills)
- Maintain accurate records using a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
- Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime

Relevant Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance role
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Good working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Proven welding experience
- Fabrication and component repair skills
- Manual machining expertise (mills, lathes, pillar drills)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
