Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical / Electrical

Location

Wrexham

Contract

Full Time (Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am – 11:30am) Part-time also considered.


About Charcroft Electronics Ltd

Charcroft Electronics is a leading manufacturer and distributor of electronic components, supplying customers across aerospace, defence, medical, industrial, rail, and other high-reliability sectors.

From our manufacturing facility in Llay, Wrexham, we produce specialist film capacitors for industrial and audio applications. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Engineer to support our production operations and ensure the continued reliability and performance of our manufacturing equipment.


The Role

This role is predominantly mechanical, with some electrical fault-finding and maintenance responsibilities. You will oversee the maintenance of:

  • High-speed winding machines
  • A variety of specialist manufacturing equipment used in capacitor production

Ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, continuous improvement, and collaborating closely with production teams in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on production machinery
  • Assist with electrical fault finding and basic electrical repairs
  • Maintain, repair, and improve high-speed winding machines
  • Minimise downtime and support efficient production operations
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance machine performance and reliability
  • Help with machinery upgrades, installations, and improvement projects
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
  • Support production activities when required
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical skills
  • Basic to intermediate electrical fault-finding ability
  • Experience with production equipment maintenance
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with high-speed winding machinery
  • Knowledge of capacitor, electronics, winding, or precision manufacturing industries
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Electrical qualifications or training
  • Experience in supporting continuous improvement initiatives
