Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) – Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh

Role Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer based at Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh, offering a salary range of up to £48,000, inclusive of additional earnings for call-out coverage.
Primary Objective
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Engineer will:
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance of all site and plant equipment.
- Ensure continuity of malt production in alignment with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), trade-related legislation, and best practice.
- Provide 24-hour call-out support for breakdowns and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Improvement
- Carry out all-inclusive planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Contribute to operational efficiency improvements within the site.
- Identify and report potential areas for improvement to site management.
- Complete maintenance documentation (paperwork and digital records).
- Recommend equipment operating enhancements as relevant.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant.
- Execute basic mechanical repairs (particularly under on-call rotational duty).

Person Specification
Technical Proficiency
- Proficient in Electrical Testing
- Skilled in Electrical Fault Finding
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, particularly for control circuits
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical installation and inspection
- Advanced problem-solving expertise
- Self-motivated and capable of independent work
- Strong quality and process awareness
- Excellent collaborative working skills both individually and within teams
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
- A recognised apprenticeship or engineering qualification with an industrial electrical bias.
- City & Guilds (C&G) 2360 Part 2 or equivalent qualifications (e.g., BTEC, HNC, NVQ in industrial electrical systems).
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and quality awareness.
- Confidence in computer-based maintenance systems and Microsoft Office suites.
- Knowledge of:
- Motors, inverter drives, and soft start systems
- Hold a full UK driving license (essential for site coverage).

Desirable
- Malting industry experience, including familiarity with:
- Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR).
- Experience with material handling systems, including:
- Bucket elevators, belt conveyors, screws, diverting gates, etc.
- Mechanical testing and fault-finding expertise.
- Familiar with PLC systems.
- Experience with lifting equipment, including LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) knowledge.
- Certification in BS7671 Electrical Installations (or eligible edition).
