Maintenance Engineer - Gorst (Exeter)

At ENGIE

We accelerate the energy transition by harnessing renewable energy sources that make a real difference. Our anaerobic digestion facilities turn organic waste into clean energy, and we need skilled people to keep them running at peak performance.

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Gorst Energy AD Plant. You will play a vital role in keeping critical infrastructure operational, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement. If you thrive in a practical, fast-paced environment and want your work to contribute to a sustainable future, this role is for you.

Summary Of What You Will Do

  • Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance to maximise plant uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Diagnose complex technical and mechanical faults on critical plant assets, performing root cause analysis and producing corrective action reports.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance procedures and strategies alongside the Maintenance Manager to reduce unplanned failures.
  • Monitor IT control systems, respond to alarms, and produce operational reports, including remote monitoring during on-call periods.
  • Manage permits to work, oversee third-party contractors on site, and ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Support plant operations including feedstock loading, weighbridge duties, daily checks, and site housekeeping to maintain a safe and organised environment.
  • Coordinate spare parts stock control, supplier relationships, and purchase order processes to eliminate downtime caused by lack of materials.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
