Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30 (Participation in an on-call rota may be required)
What Is Involved?
You'll excel in ensuring accountability, timely repairs, and performance in sterile processing environments.
- Surgical equipment maintenance and repairs: Ensure all plant and machinery is maintained and repaired to deliver optimal service levels
- Cross-functional oversight: Direct the work of contract and support engineers while delegating responsibilities effectively
- Steriliser and washer performance testing: Conduct weekly tests to guarantee compliance with CfPP standards
- Cycle monitoring & communication: Report any changes in machine cycle profiles and their impacts on maintenance and operations to the National Maintenance Manager
- Scheduled servicing & validation adherence: Oversee final scheduling of pre- and post-quarterly/annual validations
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to Medical Devices Directive (MDD) regulations at all times
- Documentation & certifications: Maintain updated records while overseeing validation/calibration certifications for MDD compliance
- Inventory management: Oversee spare part and tool store stock levels, and advise on replenishments as required
- Preventive maintenance: Fulfil scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and calibrations as per the internal maintenance schedule, all within our quality assurance framework
- On-site and cross-site travel: Available to travel as necessary across the Group’s sites
- Innovation & process improvement: Fully engage as a valued member of our sterile processing team
- Staff development: Actively participate in training and staff development programs
- Performance management: Fulfil commitments set under the Synergy Health Performance Management System

- Apprentice-trained engineer or equivalent Level 3 qualification
- Years of experience: Essential 2 years’ proven engineering experience, particularly within Facilities or Manufacturing environments
- Qualification: Mechanical or electrical training/qualification
- Licence: Full UK Driver’s License, with no more than 3 licence points
- The capacity to work in a sometimes physically demanding environment
