Maintenance Engineer – Infection Prevention (IP) Sites – How You Will Make a Difference

We are now recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer role to support our IP Sites at a professional level. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 08:00–16:30
- On-call rota: Required
The Role & Responsibilities
Core Duties

Maintenance & Repair: Ensure all plant and machinery are maintained and repaired to sustain uninterrupted sterilisation and cleaning services.

Supervision & Coordination: Oversee the work of contract and service engineers, ensuring adherence to operational processes.

Compliance & Validation: Conduct weekly tests on sterilisers/washers in accordance with CfPP (Commissioning and Qualification of Process Plant) guidelines. Report any changes in machine cycle profiles and related maintenance requirements to the National Maintenance Manager.

Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Ensure all machinery is serviced prior to quarterly and annual validation activities. Coordinate scheduling for yearly validation of plant equipment.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Medical Devices Directive (MDD) and maintain all necessary:
- Validation documentation
- Calibration certification

Inventory Management: Maintain an organised spare parts and tools store, advising the National Maintenance Manager on stock replenishment timelines.

Scheduled Maintenance: Perform PPM (Preventative Maintenance) activities, including weekly maintenance and inspections, as outlined in the company’s plant maintenance schedule (aligned with quality management systems).

On-call Support: Participate in an on-call rota to respond to urgent maintenance issues.

Site Travel: Travel to other sites and Group locations may be required as needed.
Key Contributions

Sterile Processing Team Engagement: Actively contribute to the sterile processing team, proposing innovations, continuous improvement initiatives, and adherence to best practice.

Staff Development & Training: Engage in personal and-team training initiatives to uphold high standards of technical excellence.

Performance Management: Participate in the Synergy Health Performance Management System.

Required Experience & Qualifications
✅ Must meet the following criteria:
- Engineering Apprenticeship trained or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Facilities or Manufacturing (engineering-focused).
- Mechanical or electrical qualified/technician background.
- Full UK Driving Licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points.
(Length of service, qualifications, or prior experience in a similar NHS/clean utility setting is advantageous but not strictly mandatory.)
