Purpose of Role
The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment across the Ruabon site. Working as part of the Maintenance Team, the postholder will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to equipment breakdowns, support installation projects and contribute to continuous improvement activities that maximise plant availability and support customer service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake repairs to minimise production downtime.
- Maintain and service manufacturing equipment including mixers, blenders, ball mills, screw feeders and conveyor systems.
- Support the installation, commissioning and improvement of new and existing plant equipment.
- Complete maintenance records accurately and update relevant systems as required.
- Communicate progress, timescales and potential risks to the Maintenance Manager and Production teams.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, risk assessments, permit systems and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within workshop and production areas.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, safety and operational efficiency.
- Participate in training and development activities to maintain technical competence.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing, process, engineering or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience of welding, fabrication and pipe fitting.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- Commitment to safe working practices.

Desirable
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ATEX-rated equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems.
- Counterbalance FLT licence.
- Basic electrical maintenance knowledge.
