Maintenance Engineer

Role Overview
We’re looking for a mechanically-biased, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to keep our high-speed production lines running safely and efficiently.
You’ll primarily focus on mechanical fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance, with sufficient electrical knowledge to work safely, diagnose faults, and support line recovery.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideal for an engineer who enjoys fixing problems properly and minimising downtime. We welcome both:
- Junior engineers who have recently passed their NVQ Level 3 EPA
- Experienced maintenance engineers
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical fault-finding and repair on production and packaging equipment
- Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Electrical fault diagnosis (e.g., sensors, motors, drives, control panels) with a safety-first approach—not design-focused
- Rapid response to breakdowns to maintain production targets
- Identifying and implementing reliability improvements
- Compliance with safety standards and legal engineering requirements, following site protocols
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Strong mechanical bias in engineering knowledge and skills
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (preference for multi-skilled or experienced engineers, with an electrical qualification as an advantage)
- Manufacturing or FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) maintenance experience
- Confidence working with mechanical systems:
- Gearboxes
- Bearings
- Chains
- Conveyors
- Pneumatics
- Hydraulics
- Electrical safety awareness and ability to diagnose faults
- Practical, proactive approach with a strong work ethic
