Maintenance Engineer

Royston, Melbourn | Packaging | Manufacturing

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated engineering team. This role is responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance of machinery on site to support uninterrupted production and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

What You'll Do

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep and reliability of factory equipment. You will:

  • Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and prioritise repairs to minimise production downtime
  • Carry out safety checks and preventative maintenance at scheduled intervals
  • Ensure compliance with site Health & Safety procedures and company quality standards
  • Log all work accurately on our maintenance system (APP), detailing symptoms, solutions, and parts used
  • Support in the storage and labelling of spares, ensuring proper stock control
  • Identify and report on remedial work following inspections or behavioural observations
  • Deliver planned maintenance schedules on time and to a high standard
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Manager and Assistant Manager to communicate concerns or improvement opportunities
  • Actively participate in team coaching and development of fellow maintenance engineers

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Electrical experience
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety standards and quality compliance procedures
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage time under pressure
  • Experience using digital maintenance systems (e.g., APP or equivalent)
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
