Maintenance Engineer – Backstage Crew

About the Role

The Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in keeping our site, equipment, and facilities compliant, efficient, and running safely. You’ll provide day-to-day maintenance, support cost-saving initiatives, and ensure all operations abide by legal and company standards.

Location: Dual sites (Driving licence required)

Main purpose of the job:

  • Provide daily maintenance to improve and sustain company assets.
  • Ensure site/equipment compliance with legal and Bleckmann/customer requirements.
  • Uphold Health & Safety regulations in all aspects of the role.
  • Offer cost-effective repair solutions aligned with the role’s skillset.

Key Responsibilities

You will work collaboratively across business areas and perform:

Routine Maintenance & Weekly Testing

  • Conduct weekly testing and reporting across both sites.

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)

  • Sprinkler systems
  • Water flushing
  • Emergency/Internal lighting
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Sanitary ware & disabled refuge compliance
  • Additional requests as specified.

Minor Repairs & Refurbishments

  • Plumbing/leak repairs (exterior/interior)
  • Painting & interior decorations
  • General property upkeep (e.g., kitchen/fire appliance maintenance).

Contractor Coordination

  • Logistics and handling of contractors for PPM:
    • Provide access, induction, permits, and sign-in/signout
    • Monitor technician performance
    • Sign off works ensuring all health & safety standards align with PTW (Permit to Work), RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statement), and INS (Inspections) requirements.

Emergency Response & Reporting

  • Swiftly prioritise urgent repairs while escalating issues per the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
  • Log and track maintenance repairs to enhance FM (Facilities Management) efficiency.

Utility & Cost Efficiency Programs

  • Monthly utility tracking; report findings to aid financial planning.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives via repair/admin performance improvements.

Procedural Compliance & Audits

  • Monitor toolkit stock and conduct regular small consumable stock audits.
  • Join the H&S Committee (monthly) and Facilities Committee (fortnightly) to drive continuous improvements.

Requirements

Training & Certification

  • Electrical safety certification
  • Water hygiene certification
  • MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) & MHE (Manual Handling Equipment) training
  • Availability for heights and manual work requirements confirmed by qualifications.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven repairs/refurbishment experience.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance procedures in warehouse and industrial sites.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety Legislation, CAMS compliance systems, and statutory reporting.
