LOOKING FOR A MAINTENANCE ROLE THAT OFFERS GENUINE WORK-LIFE BALANCE?
A K Industries is a successful and growing manufacturer of high-quality injection moulded components for regulated industries, including medical devices. We are looking to recruit a qualified, multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team.
Unlike many engineering roles, this position is a permanent days role, offering flexible working hours, a 2pm finish every Friday, excellent benefits and the opportunity to work on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, automation and site improvement projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a challenging technical role without the demands of shift work.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on injection moulding machinery and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Respond quickly and effectively to machine breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
- Assist with machinery installations, commissioning and site improvement projects.
- Support automation and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
- Undertake maintenance of building services and site infrastructure.
- Complete maintenance records and documentation in line with our ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Work closely with Production, Tooling and Technical teams to maximise plant performance.
- Support the development of trainee engineers where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
