Maintenance Engineer
Contract Position Location: Flint, Wales (commutable from Flint, Deeside, Holywell, Chester, South Wirral)
About the Role
A leading UK manufacturer, part of a global multi-national organization, seeks a Multi-Skilled biased Maintenance Engineer for a contract role until October.
This position offers:
- Contract (few months)
- Salary: £20–£30 per hour (PAYE + paid holidays)
- Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (with potential occasional cover needed: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM shifts if required)
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Perform reactive maintenance and Predictive (“Condition”) Maintenance (PPM) across production machinery.
- Maintain a broad understanding of mechanical and electrical systems—specialising in or balancing between either field.
- Cover bearings, shafts, rollers, pneumatics, and other production equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on Check Weighers, Flow Wrappers, metal detectors, conveyors, and cutting machines.
- Upkeep engineering stores & spare parts and contribute to improvements in preventive maintenance (PM) systems.
- Work proactively, manage workloads independently, and collaborate closely with other engineers.

Requirements
Applicants must meet:
- Either mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications, ideally with apprenticing or HNC-level training.
- Extensive industrial manufacturing experience, focusing on reactive + PPM tasks.
- Thorough technical knowledge for common machines (e.g. pneumatic drives), alongside basic faults on electrical systems (dual-skill experience is advantageous but not mandatory).
- Experience with machinery maintenance logistics and sizing company inventory.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, often required to interact with operators.
