Multi Skilled Shift Engineer
Location: Frome, Somerset
Salary: £52,500 + Bonus + Overtime
Contract: 12-Hour Shifts (2-3-2 Rotation, Nights Included)
Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading manufacturer, part of a successful international group behind some of the UK’s best-known brands, in their search for a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer. This is an opportunity to join a stable and well-established manufacturer with excellent long-term prospects.
The Role
Working within the engineering team, you will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance activities across a range of process and packaging equipment, ensuring maximised plant reliability and minimised downtime.
- Troubleshooting and repairs: Responding to breakdowns and carrying out effective fault-finding to return equipment to production as quickly as possible.
- Maintenance activities: Performing planned preventative, corrective, and continuous improvement programmes to sustain machinery reliability.
- Equipment support: Assisting with process and packaging machinery across the site.
- Documentation: Completing work orders and maintaining accurate records using the CMMS system.
- Planning improvements: Assisting with the development and improvement of preventative maintenance schedules.
- Engineering projects: Supporting plant and equipment modifications to enhance efficiency.
- Team collaboration: Working closely with production teams to maximise machine performance and operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking electrically or mechanically skilled engineers with food, FMCG, or general manufacturing experience. A strong preference is given for candidates meeting the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A recognised engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
- Fault-finding skills: Proficiency in diagnosing faults in both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Industry experience: Hands-on experience with process or packaging machinery.
- Technical knowledge: Familiarity with motors, drives, pumps, pneumatics, and automated equipment.
- CMMS experience: Prior experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Work ethic: A proactive, team-oriented approach and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Note: Engineers specialising in mechanical engineering but interested in developing broader skills in electrical systems are encouraged to apply.

This opportunity comes with an attractive package:
- Base salary: £52,500
- Performance bonus: Annual incentive
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5x between Monday–Friday and 2x on Sundays
- Pension: 6% employer contribution
- Leave allowance: 25 days’ holiday + bank holidays
