Job Title
Mechanical Fitter (Axes Refurbishment & Maintenance)
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Inspection Tasks
- Mobile plant services including road vehicles, forklift trucks, mobile cranes, dockside cranes, gantry cranes, cherry pickers, and scissor lifts
- Mechanical refurbishment of:
- Pumps
- Valves
- Gearboxes
- Hydraulic components
- Dock-specific equipment (e.g., capstans, winches, Gates)
- Inspection, servicing, and testing of:
- Length/travel systems (long, cross, hoist, racking, luffing)
- Brake units on dockside, gantry, and electric overhead travelling (EOT) cranes
- Diesel engine servicing for road vehicles, forklifts, and cherry pickers

Supporting Vessel Operations
- Connecting water supply and cooling discharge hoses between dockside infrastructure and vessels
Technical Proficiency
- Interpreting parts manuals, schematic drawings, and parts lists
- Following oral and written instructions
- Applying health and safety protocols
- Operating precision tools such as lathes and milling machines
Requirements
Essential
- Experienced Maintenance Fitter in a similar high-precision industrial environment (preferably crane/mobile plant maintenance)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a proven ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical failures
- Proficient in technical reading: parts manuals, schematics, diagrams, and engineering drawings
- Hands-on experience with a range of hand/power tools used in mechanical repairs
- Problem-solving mindset—ability to adapt to workplace challenges and troubleshoot autonomously or collaboratively
- Fast-paced professional adaptability: willingness to work efficiently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines

- Familiarity with British Industrial Classification of Service End-of-Life cranes and asset refurbishment cycles
