About The Role
Maintenance Lead (Permanent, Full Time – Nottingham, NG90 – On Site)
You’ll serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, performance, and compliance within a regulated OTC Health environment.
Key Responsibilities
Breakdown Elimination & Reliability Improvement
- Own the Cell Breakdown Elimination (BDE) system, leading root-cause analyses for major losses.
- Drive sustainable, data-driven countermeasures using structured problem-solving frameworks.
- Develop equipment reliability strategies to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Analyse failure data and loss trees to prioritise improvement initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with technical standards, critical spares strategies, and maintenance excellence frameworks.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Lead maintenance planning and scheduling for the cell.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) plans tied to equipment criticality.
- Overseer effective scheduling, material readiness, and PM compliance tracking.
- Improve execution quality of planned maintenance activities.

Zero Loss Mindset
- Champion the IWS Zero Loss initiative within the cell team.
- Eliminate recurring chronic equipment losses impacting SQDCS (Safety, Quality, Downtime, Cost, Service) metrics.
- Drive improvement plans through loss intelligence and data-driven actions.
Engineering Support to Projects
- Provide engineering expertise for CAPEX and productivity projects.
- Support the development of User Requirements Specifications (URS), design reviews, FAT/SAT, and commissioning.
- Ensure maintainability and reliability are embedded in new/improved equipment designs.
Capability Building & Coaching
- Train and coach team members in:
- Condition Improvement Lean (CIL) & defect handling protocols.
- Basic condition monitoring techniques.
- Foster operator equipment ownership to enhance technical capability.
Standards, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to GMP, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), and engineering standards.
- Maintain engineering risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
Experience Required
- Qualified engineer (or equivalent technical experience).
- Strong background in maintenance planning, scheduling, and equipment reliability.
- Experience in a regulated environment (preferably GMP-/GxP-aligned).
- Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Industrial Welfare Society (IWS) methodologies.
- Demonstrated root-cause analysis skills; proven ability to reduce equipment failures and losses.
- Outstanding leadership and coaching abilities, with influence across multidisciplinary teams.
- Data literacy: ability to analyse trends, identify insights, and apply learnings.
- Experience in engineering projects, commissioning, or capital expenditure (CAPEX) execution.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and meticulous process discipline.
