The Vacancy:
Purpose of the role:
To be a key member of the Maintenance team working on:
- Ensuring the internal customers are supported.
- PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) – to plant and facilities.
- Reactive work orders – working on equipment failures & facilities issues.
- Continuous improvement to manufacturing processes.
- Deliver/support projects – such as new equipment installations, site regeneration activities and sustainability improvements.
In addition, this position will support the implementation of key changes and improvements within the department and Facilities, including but not limited to opportunities for increasing flexibility and work processes to improve overall performance and efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a responsible attitude to work, be able to work unsupervised and apply technical and manual skills required to meet requirements of the role when carrying out:
- Diagnose the failure and causes of asset/component breakdowns, repair or fit new parts and make sure the equipment is working correctly.
- Complete PPM tasks including Condition Based Monitoring. Identify remedial works and coordinate the resolutions in a timely manner.
- Utilise the CMMS system to prioritise works, lead discussions within the departmental morning meeting, balance resolving long term actions along with the short-term urgent actions.
- Maintain a responsible attitude to work, and liaise with departments, customers and other engineering and production colleagues in a professional manner.
- Maintain and store maintenance tools and equipment to the standard required.
- Provide a timely breakdown response to emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs.
- Work with specialist equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, which control machinery in the machine shop, assembly and plating shop area.
- Installation of electrical and / or mechanical plant and equipment i.e. Control panels, fixed electrical installations & testing,
- Support with facilities maintenance i.e. Buildings, roadways, water systems (plant & operations), communication systems
- Interpreting electrical / mechanical drawings, schematics, and operating instructions to support the planned maintenance schedules.
- Satisfying maintenance database documentation, records, and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of site services procedures, work instructions and safe systems of work.
- Liaise and coordinate third party activity including management of contractors, reviewing RAMS, issuing PTW etc when required.
- Support with sourcing components and processing the purchase order.
- Review and conduct internal risk assessments and methods statements as required by the business.
- Support with identifying gaps within current processes and providing solutions to bridge them.
- Support with overtime as required by the business.
- Adhere to Company policies and procedures and identify any training and development requirements for individuals to the F&M Manager or Team Leader for inclusion in the departmental training plan.
- Carries out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.

Essential:
Qualifications
- Passed both Maths and English GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent).
- NVQ level 3 in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent)
Experience
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Technical
- Principles of various engineering disciplines including but not limited to electrical/electronic systems, fluid dynamics such as hydraulics, pneumatics or water processes.
- Broad set of technical skills that are supported with standard fault finding techniques.
- Must be able to interpret electrical wiring/hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
Skills and Competencies
- Patient, problem solver, diligent and goal driven.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to use a computer so that they can record log of daily activity, converse with different suppliers and raise purchase orders.
Desirable:
Qualifications
- Completed a work-based apprenticeship in a similar role.
- Safety qualification such as IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
- Completed latest qualification in specific discipline such as 18th Edition Wiring Regs. Software and/or automation training.
Technical
- Knowledge of CNC machinery, Injection Moulding, Automation or Plating processes.
