Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager will support the operational efficiency, safety, repair, refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of EMS Healthcare's fleet. The role will involve a combination of hands-on workshop support, planned and reactive maintenance, inspections, minor repairs, refurbishment assistance, contractor coordination, and compliance checks.
Reporting into the appropriate Fleet Maintenance and Service Manager, the role will support the ongoing programme of refits, repairs and refurbishments across fleet interiors and exteriors, while helping to maintain high-quality standards across EMS Healthcare units.
The role requires a proactive, flexible and safety-focused individual who can work effectively with internal teams, trades, contractors and service partners to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Main Duties
Maintenance and Inspections
- Perform routine maintenance checks on lighting, electrical systems, plumbing, air conditioning and security systems in line with operational checklists
- Inspect and maintain generators, including oil and fuel levels, filter changes and battery checks
- Monitor the condition and operational status of furnishings, doors, workstations, kitchen spaces and internal fixtures
- Monitor external unit condition, including anti-looseners, A/C grills and external paintwork, ensuring any issues are identified and addressed promptly
- Support the ongoing programme of repairs, refits and refurbishment across EMS Healthcare's truck and trailer fleet interiors and exteriors
Workshop, Yard and Site Support
- Provide hands-on support to trades during project fit-out, repair and refurbishment activities
- Take delivery of stock and materials, ensuring items are checked, distributed to the correct project or stored in allocated areas
- Maintain clear and tidy walkways, staircases and workshop floors to support a safe working environment

Repairs, Troubleshooting and Trade Support
- Identify and address maintenance issues such as marks on walls and floors, loose door handles, visible wear and tear, or general unit defects
- Complete minor repairs, including hinge adjustments, lock replacements and securing wobbly steps
- Assist with problem-solving during repair, refurbishment and fit-out works
- Escalate specialist repair requirements and coordinate with external contractors where required
- Work alongside internal teams, trades and external contractors to support the completion of maintenance, repair and refurbishment tasks
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialist repairs or services when necessary
- Assist the various trades where required during fit-out and project delivery
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of completed maintenance tasks, including any chargeable items and comments
- Capture imagery and videos of units for record-keeping
- Provide reports on maintenance trends and recommend improvements to operational procedures
- Ensure stock, materials and project-related items are checked and allocated accurately
Requirements
Experience - Essential
- Proven experience in maintenance management or a similar maintenance-focused role, ideally within healthcare, mobile units or a similar operational environment
- Strong understanding of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
- Ability to understand site safety requirements and work within safe systems of work
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Proven ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot operational or maintenance issues
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites

Desirable Attributes
- Experience with generator maintenance
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including fire safety and Legionella compliance
- Ability to work under pressure and handle unexpected maintenance issues
- A proactive and flexible approach to work
- HGV Class 1 licence

- Training provided for any key skills required
Other Requirements
- Full UK residency
- Valid driving licence and suitable transport provisions, as public transport is not recommended due to the location of offices
- Able to travel throughout the UK and overseas if required
