Maintenance & Reliability Manager
Belfast, Northern Ireland
Full-Time | Permanent | Day Shift
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established international manufacturer with a strong reputation for engineering excellence, operational performance, and continuous improvement. Operating within a highly automated precision manufacturing environment, they are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Reliability Manager to lead maintenance strategy and drive equipment performance across the site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance leader with experience in machining and CNC-based manufacturing environments who is passionate about reliability, standardisation, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing maintenance best practice, improving equipment reliability, and supporting operational excellence whilst leading a dedicated maintenance and reliability team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance and reliability professionals.
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies including TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and RCM (Reliability-Centred Maintenance).
- Develop, review, and standardise maintenance methods, procedures, and work instructions.
- Improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability across the manufacturing operation.
- Lead engineering and maintenance improvement projects from concept through implementation.
- Support root-cause analysis activities and resolve recurring equipment issues.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Operational teams to maximise equipment uptime and performance.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost performance.
- Support long-term maintenance planning and asset management initiatives.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, including TPM, RCM, preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of machining operations and CNC manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting complex machining and automated manufacturing equipment within a production environment.
- Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities with experience using structured root-cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience delivering engineering and maintenance projects within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and organisational skills.
Highly Desirable
- Experience gained within precision engineering, automotive, aerospace, metals, or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, robotics, and industrial automation systems.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of equipment reliability analysis and maintenance performance metrics.
- Experience working within highly automated production facilities.

About You
You will be a proactive maintenance leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to motivate and develop teams. Comfortable operating in fast-paced manufacturing environments, you will have a track record of improving reliability, driving change, and delivering sustainable maintenance improvements, particularly within CNC and machining-based operations.
Applicants with experience in machining environments, CNC manufacturing, automated production cells, or precision engineering operations will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
