We’re now seeking warm, passionate, and dedicated individuals to join our award-winning team as a Maintenance Operative at Silvermere Care Home in Cobham.
About the Role
Your core responsibility as a Maintenance Operative will be to uphold high standards of property maintenance, ensuring the building and grounds remain safe, functional, and welcoming. Your tasks will include:
- Undertaking routine general maintenance to keep homes operational.
- Performing planned checks on systems and equipment, including basic fixes to plumbing, electrical, joinery, and structural elements.
- Ensuring enhanced functionality and accessibility for residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building repairs both inside and outside the property, maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Support newly arrived residents in personalising their living space with practical adjustments and layovers.
- Lead routine re-decorating as required, contributing to a cohesive and comfortable home environment.
- Advise on materials and supplies, prioritising quality and appropriate stock ordering to keep operations streamlined.
- Provide out-of-hours emergency response, covering the on-call roster as necessary.
About You (Ideal Candidate)

We’re looking for a candidate who meets these criteria:
- 1+ years of experience as a general maintenance technician, handy person, or a professional qualification in a trade, such as electrician, plumber, carpenter, or HVAC technician.
- A valid full UK driving licence (essential for flexibility).
- Health & Safety knowledge, including:
- Moving and handling techniques.
- Fire safety.
- COSHH assessments (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- High adaptability and the ability to cover diverse tasks on short notice, with minimal supervision.
