Maintenance Planner (Facilities & Infrastructure) – The Glenmorangie Company
Location: Islay, Scotland Division: LVMH Moët Hennessy, Part of The Glenmorangie Company
As part of LVMH’s iconic whiskies—Glenmorangie and Ardbeg—this role will focus on maintaining and improving our world-leading estates. Based on the stunning Scottish island of Islay, the Maintenance Planner will oversee preventative and reactive maintenance, CAPEX projects, and safety compliance across our sites.
About the Role
This position is critical to ensuring:
- Reliable asset management for Glenmorangie’s Ardbeg distillery and adjacent facilities.
- Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Smooth execution of capital projects and handover processes.
- Operational efficiency and ageing improvement projects where required.
The role blends facilities management, maintenance planning, project coordination, and safety oversight, operating within a high-standard distillery environment. It will appeal to candidates with a preference for practical, relationship-driven facility management in industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Coordination & Planning
- Manage the planned maintenance programme across all on-site locations, balancing risk prioritisation, safety, and efficiency.
- Expedite reactive maintenance requests, ensuring timely and safe resolution to minimise downtime.
- Monitor and update maintenance records, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Safety & Compliance Management
- Authorise maintenance / contractor safety documentation (e.g. Risk Assessments, Method Statements [RAMS]) prior to on-site work.
- Enforce the company Permit To Work (PTW) system, overseeing implementation and compliance during all works.
- Oversee contractor activity on-site, ensuring adherence to health & safety policies, RAMS, and permit conditions.
- Conduct inspections to verify quality, safety, and regulatory compliance for building systems, infrastructure, and processes.

Project & Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Coordination
- Partner with the capital project team to incorporate user requirements in design and pre-construction phases.
- Manage minor CAPEX projects (e.g., building infrastructure upgrades, renovations, or compliance enhancements).
- Serve as the focal point for project handover and acceptance, ensuring compliance with company acceptance criteria.
Financial & System Administration
- Manage budgets for maintenance and minor projects, creating and tracking purchase orders within approved limits.
- Lead internal approvals and reporting for facilities-related expenditures.
Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify risks, hazards, and threats, proposing mitigation strategies linked to people, property, and operations.
- Collaborate with suppliers, employees, and cross-functional teams to improve processes and support sustainable practices.
- Facilitate open communication between internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships.
Profile: Required Skills & Experience
Professional & Technical Experience
- Proven expertise in Facilities or Estates Management (relevant degree or extensive experience).
- Experience with Permit To Work systems—essential for maintaining safety protocols.
- Good understanding of construction regulations (2015), duty holder responsibilities, and workplace risk management.
- Project or maintenance planning experience—prioritising tasks, managing timelines, and executing budgetary controls.
- Capacity to approve RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) confidently.
- Budget management experience, including financial analysis and cost control.
- Sound technical aptitude with facility-related systems (e.g., HVAC, water, energy, security infrastructure).
Certifications & Qualifications (Preferred)
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH certification (not strictly required but valued).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and industry-standard software.
- Experience with SAP or similar procurement/asset management systems.
