Maintenance Planning Engineer
Location: Shawbury, Shropshire (On-site)
Contract: 12 Month Contract (Likely Extension)
Rate: £30.00 per hour PAYE / £40.11 per hour Umbrella
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00 (40 hours per week)
IR35: Inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS+ (to be completed prior to start)
Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planning Engineer to join their aviation operation in Shawbury. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring aircraft maintenance activities are effectively planned, coordinated, and delivered to the highest standards of airworthiness and compliance.
The Role
As a Maintenance Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for managing maintenance and material planning requirements, producing maintenance work packs, monitoring aircraft maintenance status, and supporting continuing airworthiness activities across the fleet. You'll work closely with maintenance, engineering, customer support, and airworthiness teams to ensure aircraft availability and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce and manage line and base maintenance work packs.
- Monitor aircraft maintenance status and ensure compliance with approved maintenance programmes.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities based on aircraft utilisation.
- Review material requirements and raise purchase requisitions as required.
- Coordinate with maintenance, airworthiness, and support teams to ensure maintenance activities are delivered efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records within the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
- Ensure all planned maintenance activities are completed before aircraft release.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance planning and material planning requirements within Part CAMO / A8-25 and Part 145 / A8-23 environments.
- Previous experience in aviation maintenance planning.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across multiple departments.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Google Suite applications.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of continuing airworthiness management software.
- Experience working with helicopter maintenance programmes.
- Familiarity with aviation technical documentation.
- Aviation-related qualifications or recognised CAMO/Part 145 training.
