Job Title: Maintenance & Refurbishment Support (Homes) - Elderly Care

Salary: £17.79 per hour (based on 40 hours per week), equating to an annual salary of £37,003. This role is eligible for overtime and additional hours where required + 35p per mile car allowance + a 10% SMART objectives bonus

Hours: Full-time

Location: Regional (NG34, DN20, LE16, NN10, DN10, NG21)

Covering all 6 Jasmine Homes and Central Hub (Sleaford).

Team Members under 21 will be paid at £1.00 per hour less, which is significantly above National Minimum Wage guidelines for this age group*

This is a key practical support role within Jasmine, helping to ensure our homes remain safe, compliant, energy-efficient and, most importantly, comfortable for our residents.

The role is predominantly hands-on, working across six homes to carry out maintenance, refurbishment and improvement works.

You will work alongside Home Managers, Maintenance Teams and contractors to complete projects, resolve maintenance issues and maintain high standards throughout our homes.

Alongside the practical aspects of the role, you will provide support with planning refurbishment works, coordinating contractors and materials, updating maintenance records and monitoring project costs.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work but is also confident using IT systems and helping to keep projects organised.


Competencies for the Maintenance & Refurbishment Support (Homes) Role:

  • Practical maintenance and refurbishment skills across a range of trades.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Positive and professional approach when working with residents, Home Managers and contractors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good Excel and IT skills for updating budgets and maintenance records.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the homes.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

Day to Day Responsibilities for the Maintenance & Refurbishment Support (Homes) Role:

  • Carry out practical maintenance, repair and refurbishment works across the homes.
  • Support and undertake decorating, flooring, joinery, minor electrical, plumbing and general maintenance tasks where appropriate.
  • Assist with small refurbishment projects from planning through to completion.
  • Work alongside contractors to ensure refurbishment works are completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Liaise with Home Managers and Maintenance Teams to identify maintenance priorities and improvement works.
  • Coordinate materials and contractors to support refurbishment projects.
  • Assist with monitoring refurbishment budgets and updating project trackers.
  • Complete maintenance records, job updates and required documentation.
  • Support the completion of audit action plans and compliance-related maintenance works.
  • Help identify opportunities to reduce maintenance and refurbishment costs by maximising the use of in-house skills and resources.
  • Support energy efficiency improvements across the homes.
  • Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and company policies.
  • Provide holiday cover for Maintenance Personnel for a minimum of three person-days per week, including out-of-hours call support during these periods.
  • Provide holiday cover for the Maintenance & Refurbishment Coordinator by monitoring maintenance emails and calls and updating the Maintenance Dashboard.
  • Participate in the alternate weekend on-call rota, providing telephone support for external contractor authorisations where required.

Essential Requirements for the Maintenance & Refurbishment Support (Homes) Role:

  • I will have strong general maintenance knowledge
  • I will have experience managing refurbishment projects from start to finish
  • I will have the ability to deliver refurbishment works to a high standard
  • I will have sound Excel and general IT skills (budget tracking and record keeping)
  • I will have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • I will have the ability to manage budgets and monitor expenditure
  • I will be happy to work away from home, if and when required
  • I will live within 60 minutes' drive of the Jasmine Support Hub per google maps

Preferred Requirements for the Maintenance & Refurbishment Support (Homes) Role:

  • I will have experience within property, facilities or care environments
  • I will have experience managing or supporting maintenance teams
