Maintenance Service Engineer

Rushden | £40,000 - £47,000 | Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a role that offers technical variety, reduced travel, and an excellent work-life balance?

Our client, a well-established and family-run business based in Rushden, is looking for a skilled Maintenance Service Engineer to join their specialist service team. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting a wide range of plant equipment, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

This opportunity is ideal for a mobile or field-based engineer seeking a predominantly depot-based position while still enjoying occasional site-based technical challenges.

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Service Engineer, you will play a key role in maximising equipment uptime, maintaining quality standards, and providing technical expertise across the business. You'll support both internal teams and customers while taking ownership of equipment servicing, repairs, and compliance.

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on a range of plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure all equipment leaving the depot meets quality, safety, and operational standards.
  • Complete service records and maintenance documentation in line with ISO and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineers, office teams, sales colleagues, and customers.
  • Assist with yard operations, including plant management, stock control, and parts ordering.
  • Support the safe loading, unloading, and storage of heavy plant equipment, including tower cranes.
  • Contribute to the training and development of colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Occasionally travel to a second depot in the North East (pool vehicle provided).

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Strong background working with heavy plant, construction machinery, or similar equipment.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to support a variety of stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience maintaining cranes or lifting equipment.
