Technical Maintenance Supervisor

A successful university campus is about so much more than buildings. It’s about the environment, the atmosphere and the people – creating that sense of home that will help students feel safe, secure, and help them thrive.

Here at UPP we have a great opportunity for a Technical Maintenance Supervisor here at UPP (Electrical or Plumbing biased) to join our onsite team in Oxford.

Managing and motivating a team of 4, you will effectively lead, plan and manage the site’s day-to-day maintenance function to provide an excellent service to all residents, including being ‘hands on’ to achieve this. The team looks after PPM, reactive, and life cycle maintenance for our student accommodation blocks, all in line with the Service Level Agreements. Grounds maintenance and external site waste management are also maintenance team responsibilities.

This is a role where your technical knowledge and expertise make a difference. You’ll lead by example, be encouraged to challenge how things are done, and develop the team’s technical capability to drive continuous improvement. If you enjoy being visible on site, solving problems, mentoring others and knowing that students rely on the standards you set every day, this is the ideal next role for you.

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week from 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £40,685 per annum.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Work with the General Manager on ensuring service standards are achieved in line with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Deliver the annual PPM programme of works through directly employed and sub-contracted staff, in a timely manner and within budget
  • Manage our CAFM system, to include allocation of tasks both planned and reactive, and maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs
  • Manage sub-contracted and directly employed maintenance staff to ensure service is effectively planned, achieved and continuously improved, including issuing of Permits-to-work.
  • Plan staff resources and manage the Maintenance Team including monitoring training records and staff performance
  • An understanding of Health and Safety and delivery of Toolbox Talks.
  • Assist the General Manager in preparing and delivering the sinking fund programme of works
  • Escalate any Health and Safety issues to the General Manager and ensure any follow up actions are completed
  • Participate in an on call rota, and work during student arrival and departure when required
  • Other duties as commensurate with the post

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
