Role Description
The Maintenance Surveyor role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Shepton Mallet, with some flexibility for working from home. The Maintenance Surveyor will visit residential properties to assess repair, maintenance, and improvement needs, carrying out detailed surveys and inspections. Day-to-day tasks include identifying defects, scoping work, preparing estimates or quotations, and liaising with engineers, trades, and office staff to schedule and oversee jobs. The role involves ensuring work complies with safety standards and company quality expectations, keeping accurate records, and updating job management systems. The Maintenance Surveyor will also communicate clearly with customers, provide practical advice, manage priorities across multiple jobs, and support continuous improvement of processes and service delivery.

Qualifications

- Strong building maintenance and surveying knowledge, including experience assessing residential repairs, refurbishments, and planned works.
- Practical understanding of core trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, decorating, flooring, tiling, basic landscaping) to accurately scope work and advise on solutions.
- Competence with digital tools, including job management or CRM systems, email, and basic office software for reporting and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain findings clearly and build trust with a wide range of clients.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of managing multiple surveys, priorities, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Relevant experience in property maintenance, surveying, or a similar field; vocational qualifications or certifications in building or construction are an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South West as required.
