Main Purpose of the Role
To lead a team to deal with preventative and planned mechanical maintenance ensuring Operational priorities are met and compliant with health, safety and environment.
The role operates Mon to Fri, 8am to 4pm. Overtime is available, and the maintenance team supports 3x planned shutdowns per year for each UK site, during which key maintenance and major works are carried out within defined time windows with extended hours/weekends for the team to execute.
What you will be doing
- Execution of planned, corrective and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Monitor and update the CMS system to ensure tasks are closed, with relevant work history.
- Oversee the stores process to ensure accurate tracking and management of all maintenance-related inventory, including tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the team, including performance management, training and competence assessment to enhance skills and foster development.
- Lead by example in promoting a safety culture, emphasising the importance of SHE practices
- Drive continuous improvement within the team, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage contractors effectively to ensure that all outsourced work is conducted safely, within scope, and up to the organisation’s quality and compliance standards.

Your key relationships will be
- You will work closely with the Planner & Reliability Engineer to ensure PM schedules are captured and completed on time.
- Work with Procurement to ensure we obtain ‘value for money’ from service providers. Ensure the requisition/PO process is used to get the best value possible for Argent.

Skills and behaviours you will need to be successful

Qualifications and experience required
- Trade-based apprenticeship essential.
- HNC Mech Eng (desirable)
- Relevant safety qualification e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH
- Relevant mechanical maintenance experience within the Oil/Gas/Chemical Industry (essential.
- COMAH site experience (desirable).
- Experience with critical spares management
- Experience Leading Teams of Contractors
