**Maintenance Team Manager – At CHEP (South Ockendon, RM15)

Key Responsibilities
As Maintenance Team Manager, you will oversee the technical operations at our South Ockendon Service Centre to ensure fast-paced, automated production environments remain safe, reliable, and efficient.
- Develop and manage a robust preventive maintenance program, minimising downtime and improving productivity.
- Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations, enforcing corporate Zero Harm policies through regular building and equipment inspections.
- Implement reliability-focused strategies (e.g., TPM, CMMS) and lead continuous improvement initiatives for data-driven performance gains.
- Procure, budget, and manage spare parts and consumables, optimising inventory for maintenance needs.
- Own capital expenditure projects, ensuring equipment upgrades/new installations meet delivery timelines and budgets.
- Monitor and optimise utility usage (electricity, gas, water) to reduce operational costs.
- Oversee maintenance compliance audits, equipment testing, and asset management processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled maintenance team of eight technicians, aligning them with organisational goals.
- Conduct risk assessments, maintain legal compliance, and manage contractors effectively.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the site.

CHEP seeks an experienced engineering leader with a passion for safety, reliability, and innovation in high-tech automation:
Essential
✔ Proven team leadership in maintenance/engineering (manufacturing/industrial background) ✔ Strong technical expertise (mechanical/electrical + PLC/automated systems experience) ✔ Experience embedding reliability programs (e.g., TPM, reliability-centric maintenance) ✔ Proficient in CMMS systems (preferably with implementation/improvement experience) ✔ Deep knowledge of health & safety regulations and process management ✔ Budget ownership and P&L responsibility in prior roles ✔ Excellence in people management, coaching, and stakeholder communication

Desirable Skills
